Assigned by Harvard University and Peking University, this is a typical academic project that involves urban landscape and planning, architecture and ecology, livelihood and politics, academics and public. The institutions hope that this set of design can satisfy the special requirements of professional fields without shutting people out with high walls, maintaining precision and excellence that takes into account the level of understanding of the public. Scale and grid are used in the proposal to represent planning and city, where signs and information gradually unfold by the multiples. This way, the perception of “design” is being toned down to embody rule and order. In fact, rule and order are also a form of design, they’re just less perceivable and therefore not intrusive.

城市景观与规划，建筑与生态，民生与政治，学术与公众，这是一个非常典型的学院型项目，委托方是哈佛大学和北京大学。学院希望这套设计既能满足专业领域的特殊诉求，又不希望筑起高墙把公众挡在墙外，保持严谨和高度的同时兼顾公众的理解程度。我们在方案中使用比例尺和网格来代表规划和城市，标识和信息都是以倍数关系渐进展开，从视觉上把“设计”的比重削弱，只着重体现规律和秩序——其实，规律和秩序也是一种设计，只是不容易被察觉，不会被反感。
